Isn’t That Second Pancake A Pain In The Butt?

I don’t know about you, but I find it extremely difficult when it comes to making that second pancake. No matter how many times I try to do it, it’s like I was meant to cook one pancake a day, or least for the next couple of hours.

One day, while I was getting ready to cook in the kitchen, I instantly felt like cooking pancakes. It’s the number one breakfast in my life. While everyone else eats grits, scrambled egg sandwiches, or even those hot potatoes chips (I met high school teenagers who admitted to eating that stuff), my number one breakfast will always be pancakes. I have been dubbed an old school cook when it comes to stuff like that, but I don’t care.

Once I began cooking, everything looks marvelous. I stirred up the mix until it became batter. I put some butter in the skillet and let it move around that thing, making it easier to cook the pancake.

The first pancake is in the pan. I am extremely confident that the bottom is not going to end up a total mess. Finally, I flip the pancake and it looks amazing. It either looked just like what it looked like on those TV specials, or close to looking like it. Now I’m done with it and you just can’t wait to eat it.

I had to do it quickly. You know it’s highly recommended to eat the pancake while it’s still hot.

Next, it’s time to cook the second one. I am extremely confident that the second time was just going to be just like the first time. I was sadly mistaken.

Once it’s time to flip it, the batter ends up splashing all over the plane and starts cooking. There is no way I can can put it under it. Now I got three mini pancakes cooking at that same time.

Once the uncooked pancake done, I don’t even want to look at it. All I see and feel is a burnt bottom with the inside still feeling like liquid. You pick it up with the spatula and put it in the trash can. Then I went back to clean up the mess I created in that pan.

Finally, instead of a third attempt, I just walked to the dining room table with my one pancake, drowned it in good syrup, and still have a good time.

That’s what I deal with on a daily basis. I have learned to accept that when it comes to cooking pancakes. I just wish that for once in my life, I can succeed in cooking that second pancake.
