Anne
My name is Anne, and I am a recovered picky eater. It’s hard to believe now – I hardly remember that other Anne, the one who, once, as a child, dropped a plateful of peas one by one under the dining room table even though her family didn’t own a dog. (I convinced myself I would pick them up after everyone had cleared their plates. Yeah – that didn’t work. I got caught a few seconds later.) I remained a picky eater until my senior year of college, when friends who had moved off-campus started throwing dinner parties. More than anything, I wanted to be polite – it was excruciatingly embarrassing to have to list off foods I didn’t like to friends who were planning their menus. But the most amazing thing came out of that bravery: I discovered food. Who knew there were so many wondrous foods in the world – avocados, pastrami, mustard, mangos, spinach! (I was really picky.) Now there’s almost nothing I won’t eat, and I love to share this passion with friends. I go out to eat as much as my budget allows; I cook the rest of the time; my favorite day of the month is the day that my copy of Bon Appétit arrives. I will be sharing reviews, recipes, and discoveries.
Oh – and outside of eating – I have worked in literary publishing in New York City for the last six years, and write fiction on the side. I am also a film enthusiast, a runner, a French speaker, and a traveler – mostly armchair – with one exciting exception coming up in a month – two weeks in Switzerland! Will be sending reports from abroad …
