Lindsay
My name is Lindsay, and I am obsessed with food.
No, really, I am. It’s not my fault either; I’m French on my mother’s side and Italian on my father’s. Since you’re on RoobiFood, it pretty much goes without saying that you’re familiar with French culinary history and with Italians’ passion for food and enormous meals. As if my genetics weren’t enough proof, my mother was making pesto when she went into labor with me– quite clearly, I could sense that something tasty was in the works and I wanted out!
But in all seriousness, I do love food; whether it is cooking it, eating it, shopping for it, reading about it, or ogling it on the Food Network. It makes sense, then, that I moved to Manhattan two years ago after I graduated from college; this place is foodie heaven consolidated onto a tiny overcrowded island, with quite a bit of overflow into the surrounding boroughs. The sheer number of cultures represented here means that something new and exciting is happening somewhere, in someone’s kitchen, and I’m going to make it my aim to find it and bring it to you: through writing, photos, and an insatiable (um, no pun intended) curiosity to see just what is out there. And since my interest in the edible takes many forms, I’ll also be talking about my culinary (mis)adventures in my very small NYC kitchen, food writing, eating in Manhattan on a budget and whatever else pops up– the world is my oyster. Yikes. Second bad culinary pun in three sentences– with that, I’ll be going. Cheers!
