Rebecca
Hello foodies! For this, my inaugural post, I want to introduce myself and provide a bit of my background both food related and otherwise. My name is Rebecca, and I live (and eat) in San Francisco. I’m 28 and I’ve lived in San Francisco for a little over a year. I was born in Connecticut and went to college in Boston, and my New England roots definitely inform my food choices as well. (in my humble opinion, Maine lobster is proof that there is a supreme being). I spent 5 years in DC, with its uninspiring cuisine and came out to the food mecca that is San Francisco.
I love the Bay Area for many reasons, but the variety and freshness of the produce, and the astounding quality of the restaurants are high up on my list. I live three blocks from the most fantastic brunch place in the city, around the corner from a tiny organic grocery store. Five sushi places, three Thai restaurants, Wine bar, French bistro, bourbon bar, pizza, a tea garden, Mediterranean, seafood, three sports bars, 7 cafes, a diner, two Chinese places and a McDonalds that absolutely no one ever goes to are a smattering of the food options within a ten block radius of my house. And that doesn’t count the Mexican and Indian places that I don’t indulge in.
So I’ll write a little about restaurants, a little about my own cooking experiences and a little about food in general. For now, I’ll leave you with this teensy recommendation: I’ve recently become completely addicted to vegan peanut butter/chocolate chip cookies, in a scary way that makes me doubt my sanity.
